overview of 40 Days

Vivid, alive, passionate, organic!
I know I am being unfair in using these simple words to describe 40 Days!
It is impossible to grasp the passion and energy that God has released
throughout the old factory building, without stepping into this vibrant
atmosphere. The dream, of mobilizing and igniting young adults into the
arts and all spheres of influence, has started to come to life!
As a gathering of young people, we are searching to re-learn the story
of God, and to catch a vision that is bigger than ourselves. What would
it look like if we wholeheartedly laid down our lives and dreams and allowed
the Lord to lead us into a dangerous, pioneering adventure?!
My objective is to give you a tasty glimpse into the past few weeks of
40 Days. There are still three weeks left, and we all expect God to keep
revealing His story and His dreams for each of our lives!

Week
One – In the Beginning (the Story of God)

In the first few days, Trent Sheppard and Mark Sampson began to unpack
the story of God. The idea of polylogue was introduced as
a teaching/learning method. A polylogue is a round-table form
of communication where
everyone is challenged to interact and learn from other’s
ideas and expressions. Tre Sheppard also shared the story
of the factory.
The idea of “The Story,” and how we each have
a part in it, has been expressed in numerous ways: Story
time with
Andrew Bowers,
a
love feast where every group brought food from a different
culture, and breaking
apart the Genesis story in polylogue form.

Week Two – The
God Man

Week two took on a fresh new face. A team from Tacoma, Washington
came to minister to us. Lynn Green, the international chair
of YWAM, experienced
the ministry and impact this team has had on the West Coast
of America, and He invited them to share with 67 crazy young
people in the UK. The
week focused on prophesy, breaking down barriers, and learning
how to minister in a radical, and sometimes controversial
way.
In the middle of our week with the Tacoma team, the London
bombings rocked this nation. We were all gathered in the
factory building, and we shared
a powerful time of prayer and intercession for the nation
of England, and for the important G8 decisions that were
hanging in the balance.
When Friday came around, the entire YWAM, Harpenden family
prepared to embrace 300 young people coming for a conference
called Transmission. 24-7
Mission led this time of wrestling with the issues of prayer,
missions, and justice, and YWAM hosted the event. How exciting
to witness the mobilization
of British youth into the nations!

Movement

This was a short week, but be had the privilege of sitting in on the journey
of Adam Cox. Adam has a vision to see a new monastic order established
on university campuses. He is on the edge of seeing his dream miraculously
come alive. What an exciting time in missions! All of a sudden, it is possible
to be a radical missionary wherever God places you!
That brings us up to date with 40 Days, and now we are moving into Re-engage.
The next two weeks will seriously focus on vocational ministry, and numerous
speakers will share their journeys.
Keep us all in your prayers! About 40 participants have joined us, and
we are moving forward in hopeful anticipation!
